Athlete & Coaches Handbook
The Bahamas Association of Athletic Associations (herein referred to as the BAAA) is the national governing body for Track and Field Athletics in the Commonwealth of the Bahamas and a member federation of the International Association of Athletic Federation (hereinafter referred to as IAAF).
The BAAA sends teams to international competitions annually. Each team has their unique characteristics requiring coordination by a professional leadership team to seamlessly execute from the smallest to complex details associated with managing a national team. To provide information of what is expected of “Athletes” and “Coaches” to National Teams, the Association has prepared this handbook as a reference guide providing valuable information for athletes and coaches. It answers questions to concerns and helps clarify the expectations of the Association regarding ethical behavior, selection processes and the BAAA alignment with the IAAF on Coaches education and development.
While we have made an effort to be comprehensive, the contents are not exhaustive therefore we consider this manual a work in progress which will require updating as new challenges materialize, changes and best practices evolve to further enhance the sport.
